Dare 2 Make Mistakes!!!
My day today was really a memorable one. Today, I again had fortune to attend the class of Prof. Tommy Cherian. Prof. Antony J K (Assistant Professor- Mechanical Engineering Department) extended the welcome note to Tommy Sir and after that the session was handed over to Tommy Sir.
First and foremost, he asked to write A B C D asked to write our name on top of A; Birth on top of B and Death on top of D. He quoted that what lies between birth and death always lies in our hands, our CHOICES and that stood for C.
We also had many activities like fashion show in which 32 of us were made into 5 groups which was done on basis of seating arrangements in which we were supposed to come out in a different outlook in just 3 minutes! I must say, I was really clueless about what to do but managed simply as it was… The five groups performed in many different ways. Some participants made us laugh hard. Tommy Sir after this activity was for us to think differently in different angles or perspectives and to act differently, which is to be a basic quality that an entrepreneur should have.
We were given paper activities were we did a survey to analyse ourselves and we were given three incomplete outlines which we were given three incomplete outlines which we could make as per our wish and many interesting pictures of objects came out on first go!! We were asked to go around and note down the items which were creations of other people and asked to think around again and to figure out something new which was not present in any of those lists. This activity was to find out if replicating ideas were present and yes of course it was there but very less in number, which he considered as more opportunities to us as competition in each one of us was really less.
Anybody can be anybody. This was the key quote he used during the session. He quoted examples of Steve Jobs, Mark Zuckerberg, Bill Gates and many other successful entrepreneurs. He insisted on meditation and travel to keep up the peace of mind as always a clear mind is always a basket of ideas and travel experiences can give rise to new ideas.
He asked to view objects from different ‘ANGLES’ as Walt Disney did on watching a rat and there became the creation of the children’s favourite Mickey Mouse!!
He also asked to verbalise our ideas, always to carry a paper to note the “WOW” Moments whenever you have it, because most of these moments turns into our valuable ideas. The discussions also extended to what to do after you have a ‘SUPER PRODUCT’.
The session was concluded at 2pm after a vote of thanks by Ms. Athulya (Semester 6- Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department).
